Leaders today must understand and capitalize on the collective expertise and capabilities of everyone in their organization. The development and mastery of collaborative leadership skills don’t come naturally to most people—they must be taught and nurtured through a deliberate and developmental process. The Graduate Certificate in Organizational Leadership starts with the premise that everyone is capable of leadership. Students are encouraged to assess their leadership strengths and weaknesses, with an emphasis on developing their leadership capacity. Students have an opportunity to learn how to maximize the effectiveness of traditional and virtual teams, examine the many elements of ethical leadership, and apply innovative and strategic thinking to transforming organizations. Using the course’s action-learning methods, participants build a personal model of leadership that they can put to immediate use in their workplace.
