Architectural Studies and Business Administration, BS (Boston)

The combined major in architectural studies and business administration focuses on advancing environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable urban development and innovating governance, finance, and business practices associated with the built environment: architecture, urban planning, real estate and resource development, management, and construction. Students build knowledge and skills associated with the analysis, design, construction, historical context, and technologies of the built environment. Simultaneously, students advance their knowledge in the theory and practice of management, economics, accounting, and quantitative methods. The curriculum offers study of economic and financial systems and how those systems operate. Through integrative courses, co-op opportunities, experiential learning, and capstone projects, students specifically study real estate, urban development, regulations of the built environment, and the innovation of new business models in historical and contemporary contexts.

This combined major is organized to position students toward careers in public agencies, private business, institutions, and nonprofit sectors. The program capitalizes on relationships with a vast range of affiliates in such sectors across the global network of Northeastern University.
