Students can pursue the Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration (JD/MBA) through a partnership between Northeastern University School of Law and the D'Amore-McKim School of Business. These programs are designed to prepare students to operate effectively at the intersection of law and business, where regulatory, technological, and strategic considerations increasingly overlap. Students have the opportunity to develop the analytical and leadership skills required to guide organizational strategy and to pursue leadership roles in legal organizations, businesses, and related fields.
Students admitted to both programs typically complete their degrees in four years. They complete three years of law coursework, taking leave after either the first or second year of law school to complete the MBA curriculum, which takes 12 to 18 months, before returning to finish the JD degree.
Customize Your Path with Two Concentrations
Within the MBA curriculum, students select two areas of concentration. Concentrations may both be in business disciplines, or students may choose one business concentration and one concentration offered through approved partnerships with other Northeastern colleges.
Experience-Powered Learning
As a part of the JD curriculum, students complete three semester-long cooperative education experiences, arranged through the School of Law. These professional experiences provide applied learning opportunities in legal and related professional settings.
The Dual Degree Advantage
The dual degree curriculum allows for the sharing of academic credit across programs. Students may count up to 9 semester hours of coursework from the JD curriculum toward the interdisciplinary and elective requirements of the MBA degree and up to 12 semester hours from the MBA curriculum toward the JD degree. Students work closely with their academic advisors from both schools to ensure appropriate course selection and progress toward their degrees.
