Undergraduate Readmission Policy
Students seeking readmission must begin the process by contacting the Advising Office of the appropriate college. Applications for readmission must be made at least four weeks before the start of the term in which the student proposes to resume study. Requests for readmission where the student has been away for more than a year will require a review of the student academic record in consultation with a representative from the academic department and an appropriate academic advisor. Possible outcomes of a readmission review include readmission, developing a plan for readmission in a future term, or denial of readmission request.
Students seeking readmission will be subject to course availability, including clinical rotations, practicums, and policies for co-op eligibility.
Students who were dismissed from the university must follow the policies and procedures for appealing the decision to the Academic Standing Committee of their college.
If readmitted, the Northeastern credits and transfer credits that a student was previously awarded will be reevaluated. It is at the discretion of the academic program to determine applicability of courses previously completed. The student will be responsible to meet all degree requirements for the program as listed in the current academic catalog.
Students whose studies were interrupted for more than 10 years who wish to return to the university will be required to complete a new admission application with no guarantee that previously earned credits will be accepted toward the degree.
Policy on Degree Completion Based on Post-Matriculation, Experience-Based Learning
Students whose studies were interrupted for more than 10 years and who have 16 or fewer credits remaining to complete their degree might be eligible to finish their program using experience-based learning. For more information, students should contact the appropriate college dean’s office.
