The full-time load for Khoury College graduate students is 8-9 credits per semester, depending on the program. For summer, students may take either of the following combinations: 8 credits over the summer full term OR 4 credits in summer first half and 4 credits in summer second half. Students are not permitted to take 8 credits in either summer first half or summer second half as these are accelerated terms.

Khoury College graduate students may request a credit overload after having earned at least 8 credits of courses and obtained an MS-level grade-point average of 3.500. The following courses excluded from consideration in the GPA include Intensive Foundations of Computer Science (CS 5001), Discrete Structures (CS 5002), Data Structures, Algorithms, and Their Applications within Computer Systems (CS 5008), Introduction to Programming for Data Science (DS 5010), Introduction to Linear Algebra and Probability for Data Science (DS 5020), Cybersecurity: Technologies, Threats, and Defenses (CY 5001)*, and Foundations of Software Security (CY 5003).

A credit overload includes a maximum of 12 credits in a fall or spring term. For summer, students may register for the following combinations: 12 credits over the summer full term OR 4 credits in summer first half, 4 credits in summer full, and 4 credits in summer second half. Students are not permitted to take 8 credits in either summer first half or summer second half as these are accelerated terms.
